Disclaimer

This site is reference information about energy incentives and tax law. It is not tax advice, legal advice, financial advice, or engineering advice, and reading it creates no professional relationship of any kind.

Why this matters more than usual here

Incentive eligibility turns on facts specific to you: your address, which utility serves it, your household income, your federal and state tax liability, whether you own the property, the size of the system relative to your past consumption, and the date an installation is actually completed. A page cannot know those things. Two households on the same street can get different answers.

Tax provisions in particular are cited here to the statute and to published IRS guidance, but applying them to a specific return is a job for a tax professional. Whether a credit is refundable, whether you have liability to offset, and how a lease or power-purchase agreement is characterized for your situation are all questions we deliberately do not answer.

Programs change without notice

Utility programs run out of money mid-year, application windows open and close in days, and legislatures amend statutes between our checks. Every claim here carries the date it was last verified for exactly that reason. Before you sign a contract or rely on a number, open the linked primary source and confirm it still says what we say it says. If it does not, please tell us.

No endorsement

Nothing here is a recommendation to install solar, to choose a particular financing structure, or to work with any particular company. Where a company or license roster is named, it is named because a regulator publishes it, not because we vouch for anyone on it.

Get told when this changes

Solar incentives in your state moved three times in the first half of 2026. We recheck every program on this site on a schedule and email you when a number, a deadline, or a rule actually changes — not on a newsletter cadence, and not when nothing has happened.
